Question from Paul Whitworth

I enjoyed your review of the G85, and I bought one! Although a great all-round camera, it does have one weakness that I have seen a few others comment on also, colour tone. It is cold. There are many ways to adjust the colour tone and make things warmer, but none have proved wholly satisfactory. As an inexperienced newbie I would love to hear from yourself how best to tackle this issue. Shooting raw and adjusting post is not an option until I can afford a suitably powerful PC! Until then I am stuck with jpegs. Thanks.

Paul, I’ve also had issues with WB on my Lumix cameras but since I shoot RAW I don’t find it overly concerning. That said, I personally like to get it right in the camera since I have no interest in sitting in front of a computer any longer than necessary. Are you aware of the WB feature in all Lumix cameras that allows you to Fine Tune the WB? I’ve attached a screenshot from the G85 manual that shows this feature. This is what I typically use to get better colors when I feel the camera is not doing an adequate job.

This is the only way I know of for making changes to WB in the field. If you have already tried this then I’m out of answers. Hope this helps. Let me know if you were aware of this option. Thanks for writing in.
