Hi Dan,
I’m looking for a 2nd body so that I can keep my long lens on one. My camera shop has a used DMC-GX7 available. I’m wondering if that would be a good 2nd body or if I should go with a newer model. Would my Leica lenses work with it? Is it set up similar to the GH5 or is it a totally different animal? I don’t want to have to learn something foreign. I haven’t even seen this camera yet but wanted to ask your opinion before doing so.
On another front our presenter at camera club the other day is using the GH5 for video and time lapse. I was excited to see my camera mentioned. Sounds like the pros are beginning to use it!Viv
Hi Vivian,
The GX7 would not be a good choice for several reasons. But lets just start with the fact it’s a relatively older model and is a Rangefinder style camera as opposed to a traditional DSLR type style. That’s a big deal. Would much rather see you go with a G85 or even the oder GH4 but in a perfect world I would suggest the new G9. Let me know if you have any further questions. And yes, the pros are using the GH5, me included
